Whakarewarewa Forest, also known as the Redwoods, is a mecca for mountain bikers, with more than 180km of trails winding their way through native and exotic forest. The bike park is located near Rotorua on the North Island and caters for beginners to expert and seniors. Forest loop is classified as the best grade 2 ride in the world. You can rent a bike, grab a coffee or lunch, and even enjoy a rewarding hot pool soak after your ride at Secret Spot cafe.

Skyline Rotorua

Skyline Rotorua is home to New Zealand’s first year-round gondola-assisted bike lift, allowing mountain bikers access to world-class downhill trails.

Skyline Rotorua Mountain Biking Park gives riders easy access to a 12-kilometre trail network featuring varying terrain for most ability levels. The Skyline Gondola takes the hard work out of the park’s 200-metre vertical rise. Dedicated gondola cabins are designed to take up to four bikes and riders per trip, and bike uplift passes, from 1 to 100 uplifts and season passes can be purchased.
